Our Daily Bread

December 26, 2008

I woke up later than usual today because I still have jet lag from my turbulent trip. Aside from the fact that this day would usually be the post Christmas celebration for most people who didn't manage to fit in all activities on Christmas day itself, it is also my fave cousin's birthday...but he celebrated it alone in UK.

Aynway, lunch was set when I woke up and we still had a lot to share because pen's mommy sent a 45 kg lechon from Mindanao on Christmas day. We usually start a meal with a prayer but this time pen decided to make it different. He asked yuan to read a verse from Our Daily Bread, yuan read it aloud and everybody listened. I didn't like the idea because i know i'll get emotional again and I don't want them to see me crying. But my brother-in-law had other plans, after yuan read the verse, he gave an additional insight about Christmas celebration and the reason for the season...it was brief but this time I burst into tears. I know they know what I am going through but nobody cared to ask, at least not on my second day here in the Philippines...but later they did.

I didn't let my emotions spoil the day, I managed to compose myself during lunch and get back to the normal me. Good thing my family has their own way of making somebody feel loved...kahit di nila sabihin, nararamdaman ko. One of them is to keep all of us busy with gimiks and activities. After dinner we visited the Marikina Riverbanks to shop for some cheap anik-anik, perya and barbeque sa turo-turo, yuan enjoyed the most and that's more important.

After Riverbanks we had some coffee at cofee Beanery in Capitol Hills Country Club. We could almost see the whole quezon city beneath our feet where we were seated.

After chilling out for an hour, we drove home, rain and I spent the rest of the night with a dvd marathon.
